Pen Sketches

Again, a few sketches from some older sketch journals. It's nice to go back through the old stuff to see if you have improved - and a nice way to pilfer work for a blog update! Woohoo!!

More from the Sketch Journal...

Below are some sketches for a redesign of an old character of mine. He is for a comic/graphic novel I would love to develop one day. In these drawings I have been trying out a bunch of different personalities and shapes.

As with the last post, the sketches have been scanned in and then given some love in photoshop to bring out the forms.

A Much Needed Update..

Been a long time since I gave this blog attention...

It's been a busy 12 months... my wonderful partner, Tony and I recently got married and we also bought a house together. It's been a hectic but a super happy time. We were on the search for a house that would be a great space for two artists and we had to kiss some toads.. but we finally found it. I can tell you finding your first home together it is a pretty emotional journey... but worth the trouble. Getting married to my best friend? That was a dream.

So.. now that you have stopped rolling your eyes... latley, I have been working a lot in my sketchbook rather than digitally. I've really loved going back to drawing traditionally. Keeping a phyical drawing diary has reinvigorated my love of design, inventing worlds, stories etc. It also teaches me what skills I still need to work on and that is invaluable as well. So here are some recent drawings of creatures from the sketch book..
